Why spend time to study the origins of the universe and life?

The watching world, to whom we are supposed to speak, wants answers about origins. Answers rooted in fact; after all, if we don't offer the world truth then why bother with Christianity? The Christian is told in 1 peter 3:15 NIV “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,”. Humans are meaningful because we’re made in the image of God, and the history of philosophy offers the lost no such meaning.
Many are not swayed by debate but there are truth seekers. Doctor of Theology Francis Schaeffer, who reached out to Atheists, called the study of origins presuppositional apologetics. Worldviews are made up of things we already believe to be true. Schaeffer challenged those presuppositions, in his own words tearing the roofs off other belief systems. But he never did it without offering presuppositions to replace those he tore off. Then Shaffer led them to the Gospel.
God's first book was creation, and the Bible says creation glorifies the Creator. God used science to create, and through the scientific method we can learn more of Him. To dismiss the study of origins is anti-intellectual.
